Abstract

In recent decades, and in different educational systems, portfolios have been used by both teachers and students as a strategy to assess educational quality in different subjects. The present article is part of this theme, with the aim of demonstrating the relevance of the portfolio as an evaluation instrument in the subject of Pedagogy in the Physical Culture career. The investigation demanded the use of various methods, among which are: the review of documents, group interviews with students and Liker scale for students and teachers, which allowed knowing the current state of the relevance of the portfolio as an evaluation instrument in the subject under study. From the methodological triangulation, it was possible to determine to what extent the implementation of a learning-oriented portfolio allows the development of intellectual skills and raises the professional preparation of future teachers. That is why the need for changes to occur in the evaluation process, given as an expression of the way in which the student is involved in the development of professional skills and is the protagonist of their learning process, so recognizing other modalities for the culmination of studies is relevant in higher education.
