Abstract

The objective of this research was to design and validate an instrument that evaluates the resilient attitudes that students develop at the university according to the metacognitive level that teachers promote in the training process in order to show the cause and effect relationship between two variables, metacognition (as a determinant) and resilience at school (as a phenomenon). For the validation of the instrument, 91 students enrolled in a university in southern Sonora were selected in a non-probabilistic manner. The instrument was made up of a total of 17 items in three dimensions: 1) strength and self-confidence, 2) social support, and 3) structure. The results obtained show that the instrument has construct validity and reliability, since the KMO values of .89 were considered, as well as the Bartlett sphericity test (X2 =1143.21, p <.000), obtaining three factors that explain 61.73%of variance, as well as a Cronbach's Alpha of .92. Therefore, it is concluded that it is pertinent, since it will allow establishing strategies to generate confidence in students and increase the degree of self-efficacy that allows them to achieve their goals.
