Abstract

The article addresses the need to enhance the relationship between social identity and emotional competencies in the professional training process. The objective of the research was to design a system of workshops to contribute to the construction of social identity and emotional competencies in the professional training process of Sociocultural Management for Development students at the University of Pinar del Río. A exploratory-descriptive investigation was carried out from a qualitative design with theoretical methods such as historical-logical and systemic-structural; empirical methods such as the thematic drawing, composition and appreciative interview. The sample consisted of 30 students from said career. The results reveal that a distinctive element of social identity is the university setting, which affects self-concept, the assessment of personological attributes and the ways in which emotional competencies are expressed; showing, in addition, the need to strengthen the relationship between social identity and emotional competences to make the profession a more relevant service to job demands. It is concluded that the proposed workshop system is consistent with the theoretical and methodological assumptions addressed.
