Abstract

The article presents an assessment of the work of Justo Alberto Chávez Rodríguez. For the investigative work, all of his published written work and some unpublished ones were used. The objective of the essay is to determine some key points for the understanding and study of his work as the foundation of the educational act and educational research at school, as well as the process of training researchers in the field of educational sciences. . As a result, some essential aspects that identify his work are pointed out and three keys are determined that are considered essential for understanding and studying it: The first, theoretical unity and coherence against eclecticism; the second, the system character of the educational sciences and the guiding role of the philosophy of education within these sciences; and the third, the continuity of the best and most progressive of the Cuban educational thought of the past.
