Abstract

The lack of means for the development of laboratory practices related to noise studies at the University of Matanzas has a negative impact on teaching and research. This study contributes to the training of the professional by creating the necessary means to carry out laboratory practices and noise field studies. A Kundt tube was designed and built to visualize sound waves in a glass tube, calculate the speed of sound, as well as calculate the sound absorption coefficient of various materials. Two concrete acoustic shells were also manufactured at scales 2: 100 and 8: 100 respectively for the study of the behavior of sound waves in outdoor settings and their control through this type of fabrication. The total costs associated with the construction of the media were 3,295 pesos. The means created will allow the professors and students of the University of Matanzas a better preparation and development of investigations related to the subject of noise and sound, considered as one of the elements that can affect workers in the work environment.
