The paper presents research that aims to know how and what is the available lexicon in the field of Mathematics, on a sample of 300 high school students in Concepción, Chile. The variables considered two types of educational establishments from which students come, in the subjects of Algebra, Geometry, Arithmetic and Numbers. The analysis of the results of the empirical material is performed using "lexicostatistics", a science field that allows accounting the lexical richness in a certain group of people, using various indexes of lexical availability. Also, a contrast between the results obtained from the different groups is presented.
