Abstract

Due to the importance of studies which pair intercultural and educative issues, this paper presents some ideas about the pedagogical challenges and theoretical perspectives of intercultural education. It departs from the premise that among the challenges the world is facing today, there is the development of an education capable of preparing the people to live in the present society. Because of that the Caribbean area requires an education not only focused on transmitting knowledge and teaching abilities and technological skills to face the labor tasks, but also based on the recognition of sociocultural and economic diversity within the social environment.
