Letters of José Marti `s to José Dolores Poyo and Enrique Collazo: humanist patriotic discourse

Abstract

Martí `s epistolary holds one of the richest contents to study Martí´s thinking and work. In it we can also find a great share of his humanistic conception as part of his legacy to the Cuban culture. In this article, his humanistic and patriotic discourse is analyzed and valued through the study of different letters from 1892 to 1893. There we can appreciate a great emotion and political tenseness, two expressions of his humanism. The coherence of his thinking and behavior in these texts has a great variety of topics, tones and attitudes which give them a high formative value.
