Notes for a didactics of lexicon

Abstract

Teaching and learning vocabulary is important because it supports grammar, directs the conceptual system and it is an essential vehicle in the communicative and cultural processes; therefore, school requires rethinking, from didactics, the lexicon as the backbone in production processes: comprehension, analysis and construction. This paper presents a didactics of lexicon from the lexicon-understanding-analysis-construction Axis, based on research-derived from the lexicalist boom, the reception theory and the cognitive, communicative and sociocultural approach.
