Abstract

The paper is about a study of teacher training and professional identity with emphasis on the contribution of the Normal School of Panama, to the construction of the professional identity of its students and graduates, as a reference for the improvement of the training programs and the valuation of the academic and cultural heritage that the institution represents in the history of Panamanian education. The results are based on a research framed in the historiography spectrum of descriptive scope and qualitative nature that allowed to identify the milestones to forge new approaches that modify the professional identity of the teacher.
