Abstract

This work derives from a broader research interested in exploring and understanding many factors that influence the academic failure in Higher Education. The interest of this text lies in the realization of a qualitative-interpretive analysis in the context of Latin America in the studies of academic failure. 10 empirical sources which study academic failure at university were analyzed in this research. The analysis shows that qualitative studies that address academic failure at universities in Latin America are incipient. It is suggested that future research conduct comprehensive analyzes covering both the socio-qualitative and quantitative variables.
